I actually drained it in August so I'm a little behind on blogging. Anyway here is the sad state of the pool. I actually had to fill it before I could drain it. The reason being, all of the green algae had to be wet in order for it to come off easily.
I went through the same process as before. I rented a pump from Home Depot and drained it. This time I got to do everything in the rain. I was completely soaked when I finally finished.
Here it is drained with the chlorine bath. I didn't use a pressure washer this time, just chlorine, the pool brush and a hose.
There I am cleaning out the spa.
It is almost done at this point.
Now it is getting filled up. It looks a lot nicer now.
I wish that I could keep it like this but it is so hard to maintain. I still had the leak at this point. I called the pool repair guy to come find and fix the leak. I was afraid that it was going to cost over a thousand dollars to repair. After an exhaustive search, he found the leak where the skimmer meets the pool. There was a crack where no one cold see it. He needed an inspection mirror to find it and tested everywhere else in the pool. He was able to patch it up and I'd say it's about 90% fixed which is well within tolerance for me. Based on the wear and tear on the pool and some of the other problems he found, I'll have to plan on remodeling the pool within the next 3-5 years. That should cost $5000-7000. =0 :(
