Skyward Summit

Now that everything seems to be shut down as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, our options for physical activity are limited. Fortunately, we ordered a new toy for Ethan to use before the pandemic and our options ran out.

This is the Skyward Summit by Step 2. It is like a rock wall pyramid for little kids. Fortunately we have the space in the back yard.

We bought it online through Wal-Mart and it was delivered in this giant box. I was already working in the yard that morning so we had the delivery driver leave it on the back deck for assembly that afternoon.

Here was the hardware. Of course I left it in the sun and burned my hands while touching all the metal pieces.

This is it about half way done. By this time I had a sunburn from hours in the sun that day.

After a late lunch I put on a hat and started building it in the shade. Let's just say building it goes a lot faster with two people. The hardest part was lining up the male and female ends of the bolts and the fasteners. It was pretty difficult for one person to line them up on both sides of the plastic walls and bolt them together. It goes about 4x faster with two people.

Here is the finishing touches. Securing the top in place.

Here is Ethan getting use out of it for the first time. Yes, I'm still wearing boots from working in the yard earlier that day.

It is recommended for 4 year olds, but Ethan isn't a normal 2 year old about to turn 3.

His first climb to the top.

Some of the games to play is to plant the flag or retrieve the flag. Ethan is taking the flag out this time.

I'm glad that we finally got this after shipping delays. He'll have something to play on in the yard before it gets too hot. At this height too, he'll get a great view of the park that he didn't have before.

Trampoline Park

This post has been put off for a while.

Back in December, we tried out a new gym. It's actually a trampoline gym. We went so much that by January, we got a membership. Well, its for Ethan but he gets in free with an adult membership. He needs to be monitored anyway so it makes sense.

I've got a ton of pictures but I'll just show a few here rather than make this an entire photo album.

He loves to jump.

Here he is mid-air. Notice we have to wear special socks; they have rubber on the soles like hospital socks. Of course we have matching pairs.

This is the ninja course. Sometimes he just likes to jump into the ball pit but he'll do at least one part of the ninja course.

He liked getting tossed in. (When he is tired, he takes a break and stacks the foam blocks).

His very first day he tried the zip line.

There he is, a 2 year old on the zip line.

Some parts, I just don't have pictures because we are busy playing. He will even go into the dodge ball area with the 12 year olds. Yes, he does get hit by the balls, but keeps going in. He is learning how to throw the ball to play with them. We've played on every part except for the metal trampoline because he is too young. Those are the kind of trampolines expert gymnasts use.

Looking forward to going back again.
